This is why we can't have nice things.

The Natural Environment Research Council (NERC) is now rethinking the plan of asking the Internet to name their scientific research ship. The 410-foot research vessel, that is currently under construction and will be decked out with all kinds of science stuff at the cost of about $290 million, could be named, "Boaty McBoatface" thanks to online voting.

The Name Our Ship website continues to be inundated with loyal supporters of the name "Boaty McBoatface"  and is the solid front runner for the name. The website continues to crash repeatedly, because there are is so much voting going on. The NERC says that the winner will be announced late April and will be 'cleared' through a panel of experts before christening the research ship with the winning name.

I, for one, look forward to seeing super serious documentaries including "Boaty McBoatface" discovering the wonders of the deep. I cannot wait to hear super stuffy and serious newscasters try to say the vessel's name without cracking a smile.
