A tragic incident shut down production at the Flint Assembly plant for several hours this afternoon.

Details are still sketchy, but Tom Wickham, a spokesperson for GM confirms that an employee at the Flint Assembly plant, on the corner of VanSlyke and Bristol, used a gun to take his own life this afternoon. No one else was hurt in this incident, but the production line was shut down for several hours this afternoon. Production did resume for second shift at 5:30pm, and third shift workers are being told to report as normal.

The employee's suicide is still under investigation. Grief counselors are on site.
