Study Says 70% of Olive Oil is Fake

There are some at-home tests you can do to find out if the olive oil you're using is real or not.

I don't mind popping the extra money for olive oil, since it's healthier (and tastier, IMO) to cook with. But I now remember a quote from famous mobster Henry Hill (Goodfellas) that goes, "If there's a way for an Italian to make a few extra bucks, believe you me, he'll do it."

So if you're wondering if the olive oil in your pantry is legit or not, there's a few at-home tests you can do. Put your bottle of olive oil in the fridge overnight, and then check it out the next morning. If it's pure, it will be mostly solid. If it's still liquid, it's most likely a fake.
