Ladarius Sapho's grade point average is 4.135 -- that's better than an 'A', and better than any other student at his Chicago-area high school. But the 18-year-old senior has told he won't be chosen as the school's valedictorian.

District officials site a school policy that says students must attend Proviso High School for at least seven semesters in order to be named the school's valedictorian. Sapho, as well as the number two student who would have been crowned salutatorian, both moved into the district and began attending the school as sophomores. However, no one seems to be able to find evidence that such a policy exists.
