Student Brings His Favorite Video Game as His Prom Date

Chris Burwell's one true love is 'Super Smash Bros. Melee,' so why wouldn't he take the game to his senior prom?

The California teen tells New York Magazine that he's a huge fan of the 2001 Nintendo Game Cube game, and he thought taking the disc as his date would be funny.

"I’m a big fan of the game. There’s a big fan base for Super Smash Bros. Melee specifically, and I’ve been a fan of the game for a long time. I saw a couple weeks ago that a guy took his waifu to prom, and I thought, That’s very funny, but I’m not that bad. What else could I do? And I thought I’ll take Melee, because there’s such a big fan base and I’m one of those fans. It felt right. It was the heat of the moment."

Burwell notes that he isn't a "total loser," but he doesn't really know any girls he'd like to accompany him to prom. More pictures are on his Twitter page.
