Specs Appeal: Wear Glasses to Job Interview
Ever notice that the smarter characters on TV and in movies wear glasses? Sure, they may sometimes be portrayed as nerds, but they're still smarter! Michigan's new governor, Rick Snyder claimed to be "One Tough Nerd", and we hired him!
People that wear glasses look smarter, and are more likely to get hired. That's according to a new study by the British College of Optometrists.
The research found that one-third of Brits believe that specs make a person look more professional while some 43% of the respondents believe spec wearers look more intelligent. And 40% of the respondents said they’d consider wearing glasses even if they didn’t need them just to up their chances of landing a job.
It’s a longheld belief here in the U.S. that eyeglass wearers are smarter than those who don’t wear specs, says Dr. Jeffrey J. Walline, an optometrist and assistant professor at the Ohio State University College of Optometry.
