The Genesee County Special Olympics volleyball team returned to Flint from Los Angeles to over 200 friends and family members.

The crowd gathered at Bishop Airport yesterday afternoon to welcome home the team. They had a rough start in the beginning, including a loss to Uruguay, but ended up coming home with the gold medal after the third and final match on Saturday.

Some parents of athletes said that being on the team has helped their son's self-esteem; others said that they've "come out of their shell."

Not going to lie; I got a little bit misty-eyed watching the video. What a wonderful accomplishment for all of them! Way to bring the gold pride back to Flint!
