After months of above normal temps for winter in Michigan, Saturday looks to be a chilly one. A perfect day to go for a dip in Lake Fenton. For someone to do something silly like jumping in a lake in Michigan in February, there had better be a really good reason for it. There is, a really "special" reason. The Law Enforcement Torch Run Polar Plunge will benefit Special Olympics of Michigan. The festivities begin on Friday at the Fenton Moose Lodge with a pre-plunge party and registration starting at 6 pm.

On Saturday, the fun begins at noon with registration at the Moose Lodge on Lake Fenton at noon, followed by the parade of costumes and the plunge into Lake Fenton at 1:00 pm. The post-plunge party and awards start at 2:00 pm. Polar Plungers are encouraged to dress in costume to vie for the "Golden Plunger" award.

You can still participate by calling (800) 644-6404 or visiting: www.somi.org

If I can find my "floaties" by the weekend, I might have to jump in myself!
