In an effort to promote traffic safety during the Thanksgiving holiday weekend, the Michigan State Police Flint Post will dedicate patrols to traffic enforcement starting Wednesday evening.

Troopers will be focusing on traffic safety violations such as speed, impaired driving and safety belts. The MSP will be taking part of the nationwide traffic safety initiative known as Operation C.A.R.E which stands for Combined Accident Reduction Effort.

Michigan State Police Lieutenant Brian Cole, who is the Third District Public Information Officer, says "by increasing patrols and focusing on traffic safety, we hope to reduce the number of traffic crashes and fatalities during this Thanksgiving holiday weekend."

The official Thanksgiving holiday weekend begins at 6 p.m. and runs through midnight Sunday, December 1st.
