Despite the calendar telling us that it's January, you might be able to get away with wearing shorts to run an outdoor race in Flushing, Michigan.

I did on December 31st in Flint, and had plenty of company showing some leg in the winter months of Michigan.

Both the 5k and 10k start and finish at Flushing Central Elementary School on Coutant Street. Races start at 10 am and follow a flat and fast loop course (2 loops for the 10k).
You can sign up online until Thursday morning at 9 at River Bend Striders. Race day signup begins at the school at 8:00.

Any day that the temp reaches the freezing mark or above, you'll see lots of runners in shorts. I might be crazy, but am hardly alone.

If you're a glutton for punishment, or just love to get out and run, there is another race that night in Linden. The Ididarun 8-miler starts at 6:30 at Linden High School. No online signup for this one, race day registration starts at 5:00 pm.
