Norton could have gone a lifetime without meeting his local fire department...

It's been a banner spring for sinkholes. They have swallowed corvettes, fire trucks, homes and vehicles. Now add Norton, the miniature horse to the list.

Norton was in his paddock when his owner, Brenda Nickerson, found him in a newly opened sinkhole close to the fence. She thought to call Animal Control first, but the only phone number she could remember was the Chatham, Massachusets fire department.

They were quick to respond, even for a miniature horse, and the ending was happy for everyone, especially poor Norton.
