In Dramatic Fashion, Michigan State Wins First Bowl Game in 10 years
The 11-3 Spartans, who trailed 16-0 at halftime, pulled into a tie after Le'Veon Bell scored a 1-yard touchdown with 19 seconds left in regulation.
It was the first time since 2001 that Michigan State won a post-season bowl game, and the first victory in five attempts while Mark Dantonio has been the Spartans' head coach. What did he have to say after the exciting win?

What happened to our snow?
Aside from a storm which dumped 6-10” throughout Mid-Michigan on Nov. 30, Flint residents have barely needed to use their snow brushes so far this winter.
Meteorologists have gone as far as calling it a “snow drought,” noting that some parts of the state are 10, 20, even more than 30 inches behind what would be a normal winter of snow through early January.

Playoff-bound Lions end regular season with wild loss to Packers
Although the Detroit Lions won four games this season in which they trailed during the fourth quarter, they couldn't do it a fifth time Sunday as the Green Bay Packers came away with a wild 45-41 win. The Lions were torched by Green Bay's backup quarterback, Matt Flynn, who made his first career start and threw for a club-record six touchdowns.
Even though the Lions haven't won in Green Bay in 20 years, they finished the 2011 regular season with 10 wins and 6 losses -- their best record since 1995.

Flint Powers football team playing for state title at Ford Field
Midway through the season, the Flint Powers High School football team had lost four of its first six games and seemingly wasn’t going anywhere. Now, with a seven-game winning streak, the Chargers are going to Detroit Ford’s Field to play for the state football championship. Verlander wins Cy Young Award in unanimous vote
In an announcement that surprised absolutely no one, the Baseball Writers Association of America unanimously selected the Detroit Tigers' Justin Verlander as the 2011 Cy Young Award winner. He received all 28 first-place votes from the participating writers, becoming the first Tiger to win the award for the American League's best pitcher since Guillermo "Willie" Hernandez in 1984.
