A new program that uses acoustic devices in high-crime areas to locate gunfire is coming to Flint next year. This technology is already in use in Saginaw and about 60 other cities around the nation. Flint Mayor Dayne Walling says the new program will improve response times by police. The cost is $40,000 to $60,000 per year for each square mile covered, but Flint won't be paying those costs.

"ShotSpotter" technology is being brought o Flint through partnerships, at no cost to the city's taxpayers.
