This week is 'Screen Free Week'. Families are encouraged to put away the cell phones and iPads. Do a shut down on the computer and say hello to your family. Should you participate? Could you participate?

According to the National Institute on Media and Family, kids spend more time in front of a screen than on any other activity besides sleep. Of course that excessive time in front of the screen lends itself to obesity and low school grades. Educators suggest that families spend more time together outside, or do some art projects. Maybe read a book. Just not a Kindle or Nook!

Would you be up for a week without your gadgets? Can you imagine life without your cell phone? How would you convince your kids?
