Why didn't anyone tell me?  Oh wait, someone did.  In fact, for years a lot of people have been telling me I should try Sagano Japanese Bistro and SteakhouseWhy did I wait so long?  Maybe because I'm not usually adventurous?  My stepdaughter took us a few days ago - her Christmas present to us.  We enjoyed it so much, we went again, just a few days later.

Choose to sit on the sushi side, or the south side of the facility is known as the hibachi side.  Not only is the food excellent, but the grill chef on the hibachi side put on a unique, interactive show.  After grilling our chicken, he tossed a small piece to each person at our table, along with instructions to open wide and catch!  In the video, you'll see a short sample of the theatrics.

If your party consists of fewer than ten people, be prepared to make some new acquaintances, as each of the ten tables with built-in grills seats ten people.  That idea seemed a bit daunting at first, but quickly turned out to be an ambiance enhancement.

The atmosphere and food are definitely a good choice for a date night.  (not that I remember what that's like) And if you have out-of-town guests, it's an opportunity to show them that Flint has more to offer than its reputation would lead them to believe.

Sagano opened in 2003, and added the hibachi grill in 2005.  I can't believe I waited this long to try it!  It's located on Linden Road, just south of Corunna.  A second location opened recently in Brighton.
