Townsquare Media, the Genesee Valley Center, and WNEM TV5 were able to donate over 210,000 bottles of water to Flint Community Schools thanks to you!

As we all know, the water situation has been a nightmare for Flint residents. Even though it looks like we're headed in the right direction by switching back to Detroit as a water source, it is going to take some time to get everything back to normal. In the meantime, there are several Flint Community Schools with water testing positive for dangerous lead levels. So we felt it was our duty to step up and do what we could for the kids.

Townsquare Media Flint (the company that owns Cars 108, Banana 101.5, Club 93.7, US 103.1 and 1470am WFNT), the Genesee Valley Center, and WNEM TV5 collected 210,000 bottles of water during the Safe Water Flint donation drive. The water drive was hosted by Genesee Valley Center from 7am through 7pm Friday October 9, 2015. During those 12 hours, almost 6 semi trucks were filled with cases of water, and $2,100 in cash donations were collected. The water was then distributed to the Flint Community Schools.

“The outpouring of help from businesses and citizens of Genesee County was unbelievable.  Everyone involved truly came together, to make sure that children in our city can have safe water,” said Clay Church, Operations Manager for Townsquare Media Flint.

The water and money collected will ensure that Flint students will have safe drinking water at school, while we wait for the switch to Detroit water to be complete. Special thanks to Rock Bottom Stone Supply, Ideal Transportation, and Landaal Packaging for their help, and a very special thank you to every person and business that was able to donate and/or contribute.
