S.C. Fugitive Arrested in West Michigan After 40 Years [VIDEO]

After almost 40 years on the run, Dallas Smallwood was arrested at a residence in Zeeland, Michigan. In 1977, Smallwood escaped from a facility in South Carolina where he was serving a five year sentence.

Smallwood has been using the name 'Waylon Wilson', and has lived in Kentucky and Texas before moving to Michigan. Authorities say he has no criminal record in Michigan, and was living what would be considered a normal life.

Linda, who says in the comments section of the TV station's website that she's a former girlfriend, had this to say about Smallwood.

"Ok , I was with this guy for almost 13 years and never once did i ever imagine he might be wanted, he was a pretty good person, he treated me like a princess and always made sure we were taken care of . even if he did without, things went bad when i suspected he had another woman on the side , thats when I told him he had to go - he lived with me for 13 years I thought I knew him wow is all I can say, ooh beside thank you to the lady that stole him from me,,,,,,, I do hope it all works out for him ' cause he really is a good person"
