You probably remember Ruben Studdard as the 2003 winner of 'American Idol. He was nicknamed the "Velvet Teddy Bear"  because of his soulful voice and gentle disposition. He found himself fighting obesity that maxed out at about 450 pounds. The added weight also contributed to Type 2 diabetes.

He was featured on "The Biggest Loser" and lost over 100 pounds. He took a stand that he wouldn't undergo surgery to lose the weight, so he did it the hard way, with diet and exercise.

"The one thing I have to make myself do every day is get my big butt out the bed and go to the gym, every single day. Well, six days a week," he amended. "I don't work out on Sundays."

Studdard's sixth album is scheduled for a February release.

Ruben Studdard's impressive weight loss is highlighted in the clip from  'The Wendy Williams Show' below.
