At a time when most of the local water stations are closing, other communities and organizations are stepping up to fill the gap.

This past Sunday, the Irish Hills Bombshells roller derby team came into town bearing gifts - four pallets of bottled water and a few dozen jugs of water. They brought the stash in a U-Haul to the West Court Street Church of God here in Flint, which has been distributing water on their own from noon until they run out on Saturdays.

This wasn't the team's first donation, and they say that it won't be the last, either. And they weren't the only team to lend a hand - the Lapeer County Demolitia Derby Queens also came by a with hundred cases of water.

I have a few friends who are on derby teams, and lemme tell ya - it's great for the community. Thanks, ladies!
