Move over, Nintendo: Sega is taking you head-on...sort of.

To celebrate the 25th anniversary of the release of Sonic the Hedgehog, Sega is countering the release of the Nintendo mini-console, which is slated to come out in November. The console will have 80 built-in games, including Sonic, Mortal Kombat, Golden Axe and Comix Zone.

Now, let's get technical and geeky: the system is, technically, already available. However, it appears that existing versions have been pulled from the shelves to make it look, well, new. However, the "new" version has a handheld option with an SD card slot. So basically, that's what you're paying for.

Well played, Sega. Well played.
