Remember the Woman Who Burned Herself With McDonald’s Coffee? Here’s What You Don’t Know [VIDEO]

You probably don’t remember the name Stella Liebeck, unless we tell you she was the woman who spilled hot coffee from McDonald’s in her lap, and won a multi-million dollar lawsuit against the company. As is often the case, there’s a bit more to this story than what we heard from comedians, and read in the headlines.

For instance, Liebeck actually suffered from third-degree burns, and we should warn you, the images of those burns in the video below are rather graphic. Although she was awarded a $2.9 million judgement, Liebeck’s settlement was eventually reduced to roughly $500,000. Now this case is often used to screen potential jurors to determine if they’re able separate fact from fiction when hearing cases.

The Albuquerque woman’s story is documented thoroughly in the video below, just released by the New York Times.
