You probably don't remember the name Stella Liebeck, unless we tell you she was the woman who spilled hot coffee from McDonald's in her lap, and won a multi-million dollar lawsuit against the company. As is often the case, there's a bit more to this story than what we heard from comedians, and read in the headlines.

For instance, Liebeck actually suffered from third-degree burns, and we should warn you, the images of those burns in the video below are rather graphic. Although she was awarded a $2.9 million judgement, Liebeck's settlement was eventually reduced to roughly $500,000. Now this case is often used to screen potential jurors to determine if they're able separate fact from fiction when hearing cases.
