Red Cross Dealing With Hurricane Irene And Possible Strike

At the same time, the Red Cross Great Lakes Region has received a strike notice from two of the unions representing many of their workers (OPEIU Local #459 and Teamsters Local #580). A strike could begin on September 7th if a new contract is not reached by that time. Let’s hope that the two sides can work out their differences.
In the meantime, blood and blood platelet donations are desperately needed to meet the demands of patients in the Great Lakes Region and those affected by Hurricane Irene on the East Coast.
