Heads up, Michigan! Eye medications sold at several locations across the state are being recalled and could cause infection or harm if used.

According to the FDA, Thane, Maharashtra, India, Brassica Pharma Pvt. Ltd. is voluntarily recalling several of its eye ointments that were sold in locations in Michigan as well as throughout the country.

The products are being recalled due to "a lack of sterility assurance at the facility noted during an inspection conducted by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA)". The FDA warns that using a product that is made to be sterile poses a potential risk of eye infections or related harm.

What Eye Products Are Being Recalled in Michigan?

The following are part of the recall and have an expiration date ranging from February 2024 to September 2025, and were sold at Walmart, CVS, and AACE Pharmaceuticals Inc.

  • Equate Lubricant Eye Ointment (Mineral Oil 42.5%, White Petrolatum 57.3%, Lanolin Alcohols)
  • CVS Health Lubricant Eye Ointment (Mineral Oil 31.9%, White Petrolatum 57.7%, Microcrystalline Wax, Stearic Acid Wheat Germ Oil
  • Equate Stye Lubricant Eye Ointment (Mineral Oil 31.9%, White Petrolatum 57.7%, Microcrystalline Wax, Stearic Acid, Wheat Germ Oil)
  • Lubricant PM Ointment
