Police in Sterling Heights seized about 200 pounds of marijuana making its way from California to Michigan Wednesday.

Three men who were in the vehicle were arrested, and a fourth was taken into custody in connection with the crime.

Sterling Heights police provided this information:

200 pounds of prepackaged marijuana was seized yesterday afternoon by the Sterling Heights Police Department Crime Suppression Unit.

The unit had been investigating a source of high potency marijuana making its way into Sterling Heights from California.

After initiating this investigation, a vehicle was stopped in the area of 14 Mile Road and Van Dyke by SHPD officers. The vehicle was occupied by three subjects and approximately 200 lbs. of illegal marijuana. Subsequent to this traffic stop and arrest, search warrants were then executed by the Sterling Heights Police Department at various other locations. The result of the furthered investigation was an arrest of a fourth subject and the seizure of another quantity of illegal marijuana.

The result of this investigation was the removal of a large quantity of illegal drugs from our neighborhood streets, the sizable seizure of U.S monies and the seizure of a vehicle as a furtherance of the crime.
