You have the right to remain silent, but your Amazon Echo device may not.

Police in Arkansas have filed a search warrant with Amazon, in order to determine if the smart device recorded anything that may help investigate a homicide.

Authorities are hoping the Echo device found in James Bates' home may lead to clues about who may have been present during the murder. The smart devices record after hearing their designated wake word, which is often 'Alexa.' The recordings are stored on Amazon's servers.

Amazon tells NBC News that it will not release customer information without a valid and binding legal demand properly served on us.
