She was trying to buy a birthday gift for fiance, and was scammed out of more than $500.

A lovely story from my hometown!

Nicole Hoffmann was trying to buy tickets to the Packers vs Cowboys game at Lambeau Field on October 16th for her fiance, so she turned to Craigslist. Obviously, hindsight is 20/20, and this isn't a good idea, but that's besides the point.

"I felt so embarrassed. I still feel embarrassed. I sent her $550. I try to have faith that there's nice people in the world and I just became a dummy to the scam," she told Fox 6 News.

She reported the scam to the Brown Deer Police, and Officer Nick Anderson said that it "just bothered" him. So he called in a couple of favors and got her tickets to not only a Packers game, but a Wisconsin Badgers game, too. He presented them to Hoffmann, who is a veteran, and thanked her for her service.

"It`s a small gesture. It`s really not the debt that we owe our veterans. This is nothing."
