Detroit police have confirmed that a body found early today (6/2) is the body of 13-year-old Deontae Mitchell who was abducted Tuesday night.

An Amber Alert was issued Thursday when the boy was reported missing.

The body was found around 8:30 this morning in a field near Harber and Baldwin on Detroit's east side. WJBK reports that the boy's family has positively identified the body.

Police have arrested Gregory Walker, who is suspected of grabbing the boy near Nino's Market.

“Another coward preying on children,” Police Chief James Craig said during a press conference. “This should be a message to all who perpetrate crimes against children: we’re going to continue in a very relentless way to find you and bring you into custody.”
