Police Chief James Tolbert and Fire Chief David Cox are no longer with the City of Flint.

There are conflicting reports as to whether Tolbert and Cox were fired or resigned. NBC 25 says Tolbert confirmed with them that he was indeed fired. However, in a statement this afternoon, Flint Mayor Karen Weaver said she accepted the resignations of Tolbert and Cox and has "determined the city needs fresh faces in place with new ideas to help move Flint forward."

Tolbert had been Chief of Police since September 2013 when he was hired by then Emergency Manager Darnell Earley. Cox was hired in April 2013 by Earley's predecessor, Ed Kurtz.
