Although the Detroit Lions won four games this season in which they trailed during the fourth quarter, they couldn't do it a fifth time Sunday as the Green Bay Packers came away with a wild 45-41 win.  The Lions were torched by Green Bay's backup quarterback, Matt Flynn, who made his first career start and threw for a club-record six touchdowns.

Even though the Lions haven't won in Green Bay in 20 years, they finished the 2011 regular season with 10 wins and 6 losses -- their best record since 1995.

Now that the regular season is finished, the Lions are in the playoffs for the first time since 1999. They will play at 8 p.m. Saturday in New Orleans vs. the Saints (13-3) in an NFC "Wild Card" game. New Orleans  dealt Detroit one of its six losses, 31-17, last month.

Incidentally, had the Lions beaten Green Bay, they would have had a better playoff  seed and would have played at the NFC East Division champion New York Giants, facing a team with a worse record (9-7).
