A Pit Bull named Sasha is being credited with saving a child's life after fire engulfed their Stockton, California home.

Nana Chaichanhda tells KTXL that the eight-month-old dog started banging on the door in the middle of the night. When she let the dog in she began barking and ran to the bedroom where she began dragging Nana's seven-month-old daughter by the diaper off the bed.

"I ran into the room, and I see Sasha," Chaichanhda tsaid. "She has my baby by the diaper, just dragging her off the bed – trying to get her to safety."

She notes that the dog and her daughter Masailah have always been close, being born just weeks apart.

Chaichanhda says she's grateful for the dog, and hopes her heroic act helps change people's minds about the breed.

"It meant a lot. I owe her everything. If it wasn’t for her, I would have still been in bed, and things could have taken a worse turn," she said.
