Pink Covers Billboard, Says Returning to Studio Was Like Turning on Faucet

New CoverGirl Pink is literally a cover girl, as she appears on the cover of the latest issue of Billboard. The feature focuses on how this pop star turned into a career artist. As she readies the release of her sixth studio platter, ‘The Truth About Love,’ the ‘Blow Me (One Last Kiss)’ singer compared her professional life to that of a video game.

She said, “I felt like I was in this video game and I collected all the gold coins and talismans you could collect — I either had to move to the next level or quit.”

Clearly, the singer and new mom was at a career crossroad and had to decide which path to take, and it wasn’t the EDM route. She continued, “There’s this whole techno takeover going on right now that just does my head in, and I knew I didn’t want to do that. I’d rather dance around and sing goofy songs.”

We LOVE that Pink didn’t cave into trends or what’s hot right now. She stuck to her guns. She confessed that when she got into the studio after the break that came with birthing Willow Sage, the lyrical floodgates opened. She admitted that “there is nothing going on in my head when I’m off” other than writing in a journal, but things changed once she stepped into familiar confines. “That first day in the studio just opened up the faucet,” Pink admitted.

She also speaks about how the music business has changed so much since she started and that labels don’t have the same kind of endless funds necessary to break or sustain an artist that they once did, saying that “people have to just get creative and figure it out.”

Pink also pointed out that no matter what your level of experience or whether you are a neophyte or a veteran, “you don’t ever get done paying you dues.”

Pink is such a bad a–. That’s why we love her. Doesn’t she look amazeballs in her menswear-inspired cover outfit?
