‘Peachy Paterno’ Ice Cream Still For Sale At Penn State

The statue has come down, the memorials have been re-named and  former Penn State coach Joe Paterno’s football legacy is now a thing of the past.

But the campus ice cream shop still invokes the name of Joe Paterno.

A contest in 1987 attached the name "Peachy Paterno" to one of it's flavors. Despite all the events of the past few months, the ice cream shop has no plans to scrap it from its menu of 100 ice creams, saying it “honors Paterno’s work on behalf of the university’s academic side.”

But there will be one important change, for the next year. All proceeds from the sale of "Peachy Paterno" ice cream will be donated to organizations that assist with combating child sexual abuse. It's all that is left of the Joe Paterno legacy, such a sad conclusion.
