The second Friday of every month is Artwalk in downtown Flint, presented by the Greater Flint Arts Council. Enjoy art at several venues in the downtown area, all within walking distance of the GFAC on Saginaw Street (next to Halo Burger). The event goes from 6-9 pm and is FREE. Your best bet is to start at the GFAC and pick up a map of the participating locations. Enjoy art, food, music and beverages at several downtown venues. This event is FREE.

GFAC 2nd Friday Artwalk Tomorrow Night in Downtown Flint

The second Friday night of every month is Artwalk in downtown Flint, courtesy of the Greater Flint Arts Council (GFAC). The event is free and goes from 6-9 pm. Several venues within walking distance of the GFAC will have art on display. Free food, beverages and music are available at the GFAC and some of the other spots on the Artwalk. YMCA Santa Run is Saturday in Downtown Flint

The 1st annual YMCA Santa Run attracted a stampede of 800 Santas last year. I was one of the Ho-ho-ho herd, and am pretty excited to do it again this Saturday (Dec. 3). The YMCA of Greater Flint Santa Run/Walk is a charity event featuring a 5k and 1 mile route around downtown Flint. The event is not timed and is open to everyone. Run, walk, bring your family and friends. Strollers are welcome! This event was a lot of fun and looks to be much bigger this year. The start/finish is at the Flint YMCA at 411 E. Third Street. The event begins at noon.

Holiday Parade Downtown Flint November 29th, Participants Needed

While the Christmas season hasn't offcially started for most of us, it's not too early to start planning for it. The Flint Downtown Development Authority is seeking participants for the 2011 Holiday Parade which annually features holiday-themed floats and banners. The parade is scheduled for Tuesday, November 29th at 6:00 pm. There is a top prize of $400 for the best-made float.

Sign-in at the U of M Pavilion at 8 am, event starts at 9 am. 5k or 1k route for this non-competitive event. Walkers, wagons and strollers are welcome and encouraged. The Weiss Advocacy Center works to protect children and prevent child abuse.
