There has been a bit of controversy about a brutally-honest graduation speech with the theme 'You're Not Special' which was delivered in Boston recently. The commencement address, given by David McCullough, an English teacher at Wellesley High School, tells it like it is.

Some are critical of the speech because it's not 'positive'. I say, "Bravo, Mr. McCullough, bravo!"

A new era in road running begins this weekend in Midland as the starting gun for the inaugural "Qualifier" marathon and Half Marathon will go off Sunday morning. Flushing’s Mark Bauman Finishes 43rd Straight Boston Marathon in Extreme Heat

Temperatures at the 116th running of the Boston Marathon reached the mid 80's today, and made for tough going for everybody. Flushing's Mark Bauman, 62, finished his 43rd consecutive Boston Marathon in a time of 6:27:18. It was by far his slowest time, but even the Kenyan runners were slowed by the heat.

Flushing’s Mark Bauman to Run 43rd Consecutive Boston Marathon

Richard Nixon was still President when Mark Bauman ran his first Boston Marathon. The 62-year old from Flushing will toe the starting line in Hopkinton, Massachusetts for the 43rd time on Monday, April 16th. Bauman ran his first Boston marathon in 1970 as a 20-year old college student.

Geoffrey Mutai Runs Fastest Marathon Ever

Stu Allen is our resident runner here at Cars 108. Stu has run the Boston Marathon, and even a grueling 100 mile run last year. I'll bet even Stu is amazed at the time of this years winner! Kenyan Geoffrey Mutai won the Boston Marathon on Monday, finishing in 2 hours, 3 minutes, 2 seconds, the fastest 26.2 miles in history.

But, alas, there's a catch: Even though Mutai beat the previous record by 57 seconds, because there was a strong tailwind on a downhill course, Mutai's time won't be recognized. In fact, 2011 Boston Marathon runner-up and fellow-Kenyan Moses Mosop also surpassed the world record, finishing only four seconds behind Mutai.
