Magglio Ordonez continued his hot hitting since coming back from the DL by blasting a two-run homer in the first inning to put the Tigers in the lead. They would stay there despite closer Jose Valverde's best effort to give all Tiger fans a coronary.
June 30, 2011 Justin Verlander didn't even have his "A" game today. But he is proving every time he takes the mound that he is one of the most formidable pitchers in the game. He kept the Mets from putting slowpitch softball-like numbers on the scoreboard today and the Tigers won 5-2.
June 5, 2011 This one got off to a rough start for the Tigers and their starting pitcher Brad Penny. Penny was nicked for two runs in the opening inning and was in and out of trouble after that. In the 4th inning, the Tiger offense erupted for 6 runs, 4 coming on a Ryan Raburn grand slam homer.
May 30, 2011 The Tigers played small-ball, long-ball and finally won on a disputed call in defeating the Minnesota Twins 6-5 today. The Tigers took an early 3-0 lead, then gave it back to Minnesota 5-3. Victor Martinez hit a two run homer to tie the game
May 24, 2011 Justin Verlander didn't have his "A" game tonight. The Tiger ace
gave up six runs in six innings and left the game trailing 6-5. His teammates bailed him out this time as Alex Avila hit a two-run homer in the bottom of the 8th to give the Tigers a 7-6 victory.
May 16, 2011 The final game of the 3-game series between the Tigers and Kansas City Royals was rained out yesterday at Comerica Park in Detroit after the Tigers won the first two. That game has been re-scheduled for September 1st. Tonight, the Tigers will try to extend the win string to eight against the Toronto Blue Jays.
May 13, 2011 Justin Verlander flirted with history for six and 2/3rds innings. After throwing a no-hitter last Saturday in Toronto, Verlander held the Kansas City Royals hitless until deep into the sixth inning.
