Sign-in at the U of M Pavilion at 8 am, event starts at 9 am. 5k or 1k route for this non-competitive event. Walkers, wagons and strollers are welcome and encouraged. ‘Dead’ No Longer a Requirement to be on US Postage Stamp

Tiger Woods and Lady Gaga are now eligible to be depicted on a stamp. (Although not together.)

As the US Post Office considers options such as eliminating Saturday delivery, and even closing facilities such as Flint's downtown branch, it's taking measures to hopefully engage young people with snail mail. The USPS announced yesterday it plans to toss out the rule that stamps only honor dead people.

Second Friday Artwalk Tonight In Downtown Flint

The second Friday of every month the Greater Flint Arts Council (GFAC) hosts Artwalk in downtown Flint. Hours are from 6-9 pm and the event is always FREE. Enjoy plenty of interesting artwork at many locations downtown plus free snacks, beverages and live music. Curfew Considered For Next Year’s ‘Back To The Bricks’

Police officials say that they may add a special curfew for minors at next year's "Back to the Bricks" event. A fight in downtown Flint on Friday night that resulted in 22 arrests is the catalyst for the possible changes.  Two different fights were reported. One was outside the McCree courts building, and there was also a smaller fight near Halo Burger that led to two additional arrests.

Free Parking In Flint – For Now

Flint had a plan to have new parking meters up and collecting by the time we hit "Back to the Bricks" week, but the plan is now on hold. The problem? The city's meter ordinance prohibits the Downtown Development Authority from installing them. Originally the Flint DDA had hoped to have about 200 parking meters in place this summer, but the ordinance that allows them to install the meters and collect the money expired before they could be ordered and installed.
