World Series Starts Tonight, Detroit Tigers Look to Next Season

The Detroit Tigers were two wins away from playing in the 2011 World Series. They surprised fans and sports pundits alike by going as far as they did. Unfortunately, they'll be watching the Texas Rangers take on the St. Louis Cardinals play for baseball's top prize. The Detroit Tigers look to be a good team again next year and with some minor tweaks should go far.

Detroit Tigers Force Game 6 in ALCS With Win

We had our ace, Justin Verlander on the mound for a "win or go home" game 5 in the best of 7 American League Championship Series against Texas. The Rangers quieted the crowd with a run in the top of the first inning, and this looked like it might end badly. The Tigers would have none of that today, as Alex Avila finally got hold of one and hit a solo homer in the 3rd to tie the game at 1-1. Delmon Young connected in the 4th to give the Tigers a 2-1 lead.

Detroit Tigers Blown Out In Extra Innings, Valverde Gives Up 4 in 11th

Jose Valverde is still perfect in save situations this season. The problem is that he has been pretty awful in non-save situations all year long. Tonight, in a non-save situation he was blown out again. After an 8 pitch 10th inning, Valverde gave up a double to Josh Hamilton on the very first pitch of the 11th. After striking out the next hitter, the Tigers elected to intentionally walk Adrian Beltre to pitch to Mike Napoli in hopes of inducing a double play.

Games For Your Brain [VIDEO]

I like to watch game shows for the suspense, the excitement, and yes, the flashing lights.  I like to watch a lot of Discovery, History, Science, and National Geographic Channel's documentaries for the interesting nuggets of knowledge on an assortment of topics.  Over the weekend, I enjoyed the best of both worlds with a NatGeo show called "Brain Games."

Ever since my dad suffered a brain injury almost three years ago, I have learned a lot about how the brain works.  This series furthered my education on the human brain, and in several ways surprised me.

Detroit Tigers Lose On Walk-off Grand Slam in 11th

The Tigers had plenty of chances to win this one. But they didn't. Nelson Cruz hit a homer to tie it in the 7th at 3-3 off Max Scherzer then hit a walk-off grand slam to win it in the 11th off Ryan Perry. Final score: Rangers 7, Tigers 3. The Rangers now lead the American League Championship Series 2 games to none.

Jane Lynch’s 2011 Emmys Opening Number [VIDEO]

Jane Lynch opened the 63rd Emmy Awards with a song and dance number that took the audience through the world of television, reimagined as an inner-city apartment building housing all the top TV shows.

Lynch walked through scenes of hit series like ‘Mad Men‘ (where she was asked to leave the room when she informed Don Draper that in 50 years people would be fast-forwarding through commercials) and ‘The Big Bang Theory’ (where she learned that not all jokes merit canned laughter).
