A lot of students and residents used their MLK Jr. day off to serve the community.

Over 600 people took the day yesterday as a day of service to honor Martin Luther King, Jr. by packing 80,000 healthy meals for those in need in Genesee County at Dort Federal Event Center with the help of the United Way.

Before noon, they were already halfway to their goal.

People of all ages, races and backgrounds (including quite a few students from Bentley Community Schools) volunteered. Great job everybody! Good news indeed!
