There will be a record number of schools beginning classes early this year.

Michigan has a 17-year ban on schools starting classes before Labor Day. WNEM is reporting that this year, a record number of districts are bypassing that ban. More than 120 districts in Michigan have received waivers from the Michigan Department of Education to begin classes before Tuesday, September 5th this year.

There has been a bill introduced that would allow districts to start classes before Labor Day without state approval. At this point, the bill has not passed the Senate.

If schools begin classes in August will they get out at the end of May next year? How do you feel about classes beginning before Labor Day?
