Sorry to burst your bubble, Oregon, but it looks like you're not the home of 'The Simpsons' after all. Earlier this week, we told you that 'Simpsons' creator Matt Groening had declared to 'Smithsonian Magazine' that Homer and Marge's clan calls Springfield, Oregon their home.

Groening now tells 'TV Guide' he was misquoted.

"I never said Springfield was in Oregon, I said Springfield was the name of my sled," said Groening, making a 'Citizen Kane' reference.

"When I was a kid, the TV show 'Father Knows Best' took place in the town of Springfield, and I was thrilled because I imagined that it was the town next to Portland, my hometown," he told the magazine. "When I grew up, I realized it was just a fictitious name. I also figured out that Springfield was one of the most common names for a city in the U.S. In anticipation of the success of the show, I thought, 'This will be cool; everyone will think it's their Springfield.' And they do."

It's hardly a declaration, that's for sure.
