The Dearborn animal shelter is offering a $1,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of someone who tied a brick to a dog's leg, and threw him in the Rouge River in Dearborn Heights.

The golden retriever mix was rescued on August 26th, and has since been given the name 'River'.

Animal shelter personnel remind pet owners who can no longer care for their animals to drop them off at licensed shelters. “If you do have to surrender an animal, please don’t leave it in the street, don’t’ dispose of it. It’s a living being. Please surrender it to a shelter near you.”
