Automakers have already set a record for recalls this year. But with just over a day left in 2014, we're not done adding to this year's total. One report says the number of recalled vehicles is well over 60 million.

The latest recall was triggered because of a faulty clutch. The fault allowed a child to start a truck and run over another child. That fatal accident has prompted FCA US LCC, formerly Chrysler Group LCC, to recall 66,819 Dodge Dakotas, Dodge Ram 1500, 2500, 3500s and Mitsubishi Raider pickups.  If you own one of these vehicles with a manual transmission that was part of the 2006 or 2007 model years, this means you.

Chrysler built the Raider for Mitsubishi. That and Dodge Dakota are not in production anymore. The manufacturer said it will begin to notify owners in Mid-February.  But until dealers can complete the free fix, FCA USA LCC recommends that owners start the trucks while in neutral and with the parking brake engaged.

We found a video of a 2007 Dodge Ram for sale on line. Good looking truck, but I would leave it with the dealer until they complete the no cost repairs.
