New Michigan Bill Would Require Casino Winnings To Cover Child Support First [VIDEO]

If you're behind on your child support..Casino winnings would no longer be free and clear.

Soon there could be a bill that would require casinos to check and see if big winners owe child support before paying out. The measure is called  the Michigan Gaming Control and Revenue Act. A state House committee approved the bill last week.

And you thought they weren't doing anything in Lansing last week. If the bill becomes law, a person's winnings would go straight to the friend of the court.

If the legislation becomes law it would not have an effect on Native American casinos like Soaring Eagle Casino in Mount Pleasant and Saganing Casino in Standish. However, state lawmakers said they will encourage those casinos to adopt a similar measure.
