A new bill being proposed would require casinos to use winnings for overdue child support before giving winners the leftover cash.

WNEM says state legislators are considering requiring casinos to check and see of big winners owe child support. If a person is found to owe, the amount from their winnings would go straight to friend of the court, and if it's less than the winnings, they would then pocket the leftover cash. The measure – already approved by a state House committee – is being called the Michigan Gaming Control and Revenue Act.

The legislation would not affect Native American casinos, however, state legislators said they would encourage those to adopt similar measures.
