Need For Blood Never Takes a Holiday

While most of us are enjoying our extended Labor Day weekend, someone is in need of blood products to save their life.  The need for blood is there 24/7, 365 days a year.  That is where you come in.

The American Red Cross continues to struggle to keep up  with the demand for blood and blood products like platelets and plasma.  Summer months are particularly troublesome for donations as folks take vacations, school blood drives take the season off.

Contact the American Red Cross and make an appointment to donate.  Giving whole blood takes about an hour, and you can do that up to 8 times a year.  Platelets and plasma takes a bit longer, but you can donate those products as many as 24 times a year.

Every time you donate, you can save as many as three lives.  That's pretty amazing!  Most people wonder if they make a difference in this world.  Blood donors don't have that issue.
