Nearly 1.4 million Michigan residents are expected to travel this upcoming Fourth of July Holiday according to AAA Michigan.

That number is a one percent drop from last year due to the holiday falling on a Thursday and is a day less than last year's holiday period.

AAA says the majority - 87 percent - will go by vehicle, while five percent are expected to fly and eight percent will go by bus or train. Gas prices for those traveling by car are expected to be around $3.81 per gallon.

The Fourth of July period is defined as Wednesday, July 3 through Sunday, July 7.
