Most of us aren't aware that potatoes are a major crop of Michigan.  Potatoes are easy to grow in less than perfect soil, so lots of spuds come from right here in our home state.  The town of Munger, which is between Reese and Bay City, celebrates the tuber with their annual Potato Festival this weekend!

The 58th annual Munger Potato Festival starts on Thursday and wraps up on Sunday the 29th of July.   4 big days of carnival rides, music, tons of free potatoes, food and even a 5k Spud Run on Saturday morning.

Figure 8 and Demolition Derby, casino and bingo tents, the big parade on Sunday featuring the Potato Queen and her court.

Munger is less than an hour from Flint, so grab your buds, er..spuds and head there for some great small-town fun.  Want more info on the Munger Potato Fest?  http://www.mungerpotatofest.com/
