Rookie quarterback Geno Smith threw three touchdown passes and helped set up the game-winning field goal, as the New York Jets beat the Atlanta Falcons, 30-28, at the Georgia Dome on Monday night.

After Atlanta had surged ahead on Matt Ryan's 3-yard touchdown pass to Levine Toilolo with 1:54 remaining, Smith calmly steered the Jets' offense down the field, setting up Nick Folk's game-ending, 43-yard field goal with an 8-yard run.

New York (3-2) led 27-14 early in the fourth quarter after Smith threw a 1-yard scoring strike to Kellen Winslow with 12:00 minutes left. Ryan led Atlanta (1-4) back into the lead with two late scoring drives, but Smith had enough time to rally the Jets to victory.

Ryan finished with 319 passing yards and two touchdowns, and Atlanta running back Jacquizz Rodgers ran for two scores. The Falcons committed two turnovers, and they were stopped on the goal line without scoring at the end of the first half.
