Brenda Schmitz died of Ovarian Cancer two years ago, but before she passed away, she masterminded a spectacular plan to grant her family a Christmas gift they will never forget. Schmitz wrote a beautiful letter, requesting that a local radio station grant a Christmas wish to her husband and four boys -- and gave it to her best friend asking that she hold it until her husband David had had a chance to move on, and to find a new special person to share their lives with.

Brenda's wish also included some surprises for her husband's new partner, and some of the staff members of Mercy Medical in Des Moines, Iowa who cared for her in her final days.

Here's an excerpt of Brenda's letter, and if you have plenty of tissues on hand, you can click here to read the whole thing.

“My reason for writing is this. I have a wish. I have a wish for David, the boys, and the woman and her family if she has kids also. I want them to know I love them very much and they always feel safe in a world of pain. I was hoping that one small act you all could do for me can change and help their lives forever and they know I am with them always..."

David and his fiancee Jane spoke with the Des Moines Register a few days after their Christmas wish was revealed to David on the station's morning broadcast. Both of those videos are below.
