Mid-Michigan Case Of Consumer Energy ‘Green Dot Scam’ Reported [VIDEO]

The Consumers Energy Green Dot scam is spreading.

Thieves are constantly trying to catch us off guard. Here's how the 'Green Dot Scam' works: a company was notified it was behind on its Consumers Energy payment. A person called the company, saying it needed to pay Consumers Energy $500 within the hour and it needed to buy a Green Dot prepaid credit card available at local drug stores.

The scam has been working for the better part of a year. Consumers Energy says it never demands payment over the phone using a Green Dot card. More info in the video.
